The Local Growers Guild (LGG) publishes a guide every year with information about where, how, and why to buy local food in southern and central Indiana. We printed our 2008 edition in March and will be selling copies for $2 at the Bloomington Community Farmers' Market and through several area retailers. The guide includes profiles of our member farms, a list of CSA (Consumer Supported Agriculture) programs offered in the area, information about our member retailers who offer locally grown food, and a selection of articles about why it's important to eat locally. While it's certainly not an exhaustive list of all the local growers in our area, we feel it is a great resource for the community and hope we can make it easy and fun to find locally grown food.
Since the paper copies will be distributed mostly in the Bloomington area, we are also offering a pdf version of our 2008 Local Growers' Guide right here. Please be aware that it is a large file (2.6 MB) and may take a little while to download.
All of our members (community, grower, retailer) receive a free paper copy of the Growers' Guide every year as well as a subscription to our bimonthly newsletter. If you'd like to be connected with the local food scene, please consider joining!
